Hello I am new to this site but I do belong to a couple of others . I have recently aquired a old chev 5 ton truck in very good condition except for cab corners and a small hole in each fender and a hole in the drivers side windshield it is in roadworthy shape it had been a farm truck and is original except that someone has rigged an electric motor on the 2 speed rearend lever to switch it from high to low. Now my problem, there is no ownership and thus no idea what year it was made. I will put down all the info I have and mabe someone can tell me the year, motor size and anything else that will be of help. I am located in canada and I saved this truck from a local scrap yard where I was doing some work. Serial # 3178302454 model 1783 engine42224 body serial #251 GVRW 16000 LBS. As I said it was in a scrap yard along with an old truck with a rocker style dump box it looked like someone put a dump box on Jed Clampetts truck and it turned out to be a real mix. The frame is out of who knows what but its old the motor,trans and rearend are supposed to be out of 55 chev the cab while cut off athe dash and no doors is from a 30sor 40s International.If I can ever figure out how to post pictures I will post pics of both.
