Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!

For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 96 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 96 | Am looking for wheels that will help get the front wheels under the fenders on my 49. I have installed the front IFS from a 78 1/2 ton. It is about 7 incehs wider than the stock one. I am considering narrowing it 1.5" as Mobileortho has done with his 3600, but that still will not be near enough. I am also planning to lower the front end using drop spindles and springs to match the flipped rear (dropped 6"). I would like to know if there are soem factory 5 lug on 5.0" bolt circle wheels out there with LOTS of backspace. I have heard wheels from a late model Impala SS might work, but do not have any specs on them. I would like to have same wheels front and back so can rotate and have one spare. Don't really care what size, 15, 16 or 17".
Mobileortho - have seen some past posts from you with links to others that have done this swap. Any wheel advice ? | | |
