1. ...use a heat dam, an asbestos (or it used to be anyway) and water paste that you form next to the weld and it soaks up heat before it spreads too far.
2, ...do not run a bead. Tack in 4 corners and then in between each tack 180 degrees apart. Go slow and every once in a while spray some water from a spray bottle onto the area to keep it cool. Yea, it's tedious but just about guarantees no warping.

Then comes the hard part... finishing a roof :crazy:

I'd leave the vent. grin
