Went to tranny shop yesterday and bought new housing made from steel and new gear. My old gear was toast. The shaft was worn to half its original diameter next to the gear. Tranny guy theorized it allowed enough play for the gear to not mesh with the one inside the tranny. Will put it all together this evening and let you know.
