Low oil pressure could also be caused by bad/worn cam bearings. That's what was wrong with my 55-1st I had years ago. Very similar condition except my pressure would drop to near zero when hot. Silly me kept driving it until it started knocking and ruined the crank.
I did rebuild it and mixed and matched parts from about 5 motors and ended up with a good one. Good luck with yours.
