One thing that hasn't been mentioned is where was the truck stored? Hopefully indoors but at least covered to keep rain off of the engine. I've seen some pretty ugly sights after pulling the heads off engines that have been exposed to the elements.
Ten years is a long time to sit exposed to the Northwest weather.
