Putting a later rear end under your 1-ton should be a piece of cake with the parts truck you bought.
Here's what I did on my '55.2 3/4 ton.
I used the springs and hangers from a '77 3/4 ton and simply bolted the hangers to the frame and then bolted in the later rear end. The springs on the later rear end are actually closer together than on the older trucks.
3/4 ton dual wheel rear end swap All of the 3/4 and 1 ton frames are 34" across so this should work with a whole lot of years.
