I thought I was seated ok as well but the collar was clamped on to far down shaft so it was flush against the block but not seating fully into the oil pump connection, the distance between the bottom of the distributor housing and the collar was considerably reduced once it had full seated down into the oil pump. let us know how it goes I had planned on replacing my distributor down the road.
