There should be no need to use any other switch...the stock switch will work fine. The ON function will power the 12 volt coil just as it powered the 6 volt coil.
If you are going to use a ballast resistor ahead of the coil, this would be addressed with the purchase of a starter switch (the one on top of the starter) that has a bypass function.
This too can be eliminated if you use a internally regulated coil. I think you asked about the alternator wiring in another post. The #1 DA wire could be powered by one of the terminals on the stock switch as well (me thinks).
So, the stock switch has all the functions and capacity you need for the swap to 12 volts.
