The 292 is a long stroke engine that produces a lot of torque and will if not run hard give fairly good gas mileage. I have a built up one with 3 carbs, cam, etc. and it makes plenty of horsepower, but of course mileage suffers. My opinion the 292 is a great choice of engine for a truck.
