I have a 1950 chevy suburban and it has a 1954 235 in it, but I am trying to swap it out for a 1961 (I think) 235. The bellhousing looks different and I am having trouble finding info on swaping these out and replacing it. I am wondering basically if I can just remove the bellhousing and use a regular standard clutch because the 61 bellhousing is fluid driven and the clutch mechanism is on the other side than on the 54 I currently have, i.e. the 61 is on the passenger side, while the 54 is on the driver side.
Any help would be appreciated!!!
