They are usually spot welded (Resistance welded). You can get spot weld tools for drilling from a good auto body shop supplier. You only want drill out the angle bed side rail metal, don't drill throught the bed side. Spot welds can be found by looking for the little depressed dimple in the angle side rail. on reassembly you can either use a resistance spot welder or use a MIG welder (you will have to drill holes in the angle rail to use the MIG welder; usually about 5/16 in. hole and use 0.023 in. wire.
