Sorry it took a while to get to this one, it slipped by me. You are correct, the front panels, bed sides and tailgates we make are 16 gage (.056") and the cross sills and rear sills are 14 gage (.072"). These thickess measurements are toward the bottom of the range for each gage and that is pretty common with steel suppliers today. With old sheet metal, 40's and 50's vintage, they often were a little thicker, so the .065 measurement is probably 16 gage. You would have a hard time finding .065" thickness steel sheet today unless you special ordered it from the mill.
