Eastwood has cute tool, the Whistle Stop. A whistle that screws into the sparkplug hole. You crank the engine by hand, when it stops whistling you are at TDC. I have never tried it myself, but their bizarre tools seem to work. I love the Colour tune, a spark plug window that you screw in, that allows you to adjust your mixture by the color of combusion in the cylinder.
