While installing my newly repaired head on my GMC 248 I noticed, after cleaning the face of the block before laying down the head gasket, there were numbers that appeared to be stamped in the block next to each cylinder. They were, (if memory serves), a 4 (next to cylinder #1), a 7 (next to #2), a 3 next to #3 & 4), a 5 (next to #5), and a 4 (next to #6). Just curious as to what these numbers were for or their meaning?
