We are on the verge of buying a new old GMC and this forum seems like just the ticket for neophytes like us. I use the word "old" loosely as I'm older than the truck. I'm a true novice in these matters so if somebody with some patience would be so kind as to help me through this jungle I'd surely appreciate it. My new prospective bride is a 1955 GMC 1/2 ton, LB 1st series advertised as a "GMC 100" (tho I've had a little trouble reconciling that model number with the other "facts") and I have some questions.
First BIG question: I've looked around quite a bit and can't find anything on the 270. Is there anything in particular I should know about this animal before I cage myself with it? Second BIGGER question: What other overwhelming concerns should I have relative to this year, this make, this model, etc? Third BIGGERYET question: I'm about to drive a fair piece to see (and presumably buy) it, what hugely significant things should I look for?
Last and BIGGEST question: What should I be asking and I'm not?
Any help would be oh-so-appreciated. I'm looking forward to a long and loving relationship with this forum.
Cheers, jerry | | |
