Usually instructions in the box that will tell you. If you got the copper headgasket, spray it with copper headgasket spray. If it's cardboard and colored blue, no dope is needed. Usually if it's cardboard and untreated, spray it with copper headgasket dope. Notice I said usually, that's why there should be instructions. If no instructions, call or go back to where you bought it and ask.
