ditto to what Jeff said...
I put a 327 in a '68 several years ago, i ended up changing out the bellhousing, clutch, and radiator. had headders too. the three speed lasted, well, a little bit, but a heavy foot and a new drivers licence turned it to tranny soup eventually.
the v-8 does end up sitting back quite a ways, but you are still able to work on the dist.
I didn't have the correct fan shroud, didn't have problems overheating, but would've liked it for the safety factor!
