SInce you guys are on the subject of vehicle numbers, I'd like to ask a question. Many people swap engines in the 47-54 Chevy trucks. And in those years, at least around here, the DMV (known as Dept. of Revenue here) used the engine number to I.D. the vehicle. What happens when a person goes to tag the truck after the swap, and the title shows the original engine number? I didn't think I would have any problem, because I had always heard that there was an I.D. number stamped on the frame. I was sorta hoping to be able to show that number to the Highway Patrol if there was any problems at inspection station.
