Another link on inliners.org gives a chronological list of casting numbers for blocks and heads. It shows your head number as a 1953 235. That's the only year the full oil pressure 235 had the valve cover held down by studs thru the top. It was in cars with Powerglide trans. only. Starting in 54 the cover had 4 capscrews around the edge. About 13 years ago I did the same thing with a 235 I had in a 55-1st series
pickup . Then I didn't know to look for casting numbers, etc. I just knew it worked. The 53 head is lower compression than the "848" head your 56 motor started with. See the other discussion about 848. Good luck.
