I'm fitting a 292 Chevy engine and NV4500 5 speed into my 1953 3/4 ton. Tom's special engine mounts (thanks Tom!!) and my custom cross member are in place. (yee ha) Getting ready to do some cutting/fabrication to firewall because I need more clearance. This was expected, but I was wondering if anyone has some good advise on how to modify my firewall. Looks like I can just cut away the area which is too tight and weld in some "extensions". Maybe make some cardboard templates to get the shape right???? I'm ok with a welder and sheetmetal, but there are lots of you out there who have done this before and can save me a bunch of trouble, I'm sure. Anyhow, if you folks have advise and/or pictures it would be much appreciated. This is fun!!!!
