I know alot of makers of DOT 5 recommend changing the flex hoses and flushing the steel lines before using DOT 5. I,ve heard that the post office and military have used it since back in the seventies. I have heard that it won't work in these new anti-lock brake systems and it will sometimes mess up brake light switches that screw in master cylinder.
