The 1 week old muffler was ruined, so I took it back to the shop and said "How about that lifetime guarantee?". The shop owner said "That's abuse!" and I replied that it was an accident. We agreed that I would pay for the installation only.
Anyways, I put the points back in the distributor and tossed the 2 year old electronic ignition unit. Things were OK after that.
So my advice is check your ignition. Look for loose wires that may have cause an intermittent connection. What type of igniition does it have? (stock or electronic)
