My 49 1/2-ton had a problem of popping out of 2nd every so often when the load was off. Suspected a synchro ring problem. At about the same time I had a problem with the clutch plate.
Took it in to have the clutch plate, springs, etc. replaced and while there had them pull the tranny. It was shopped out to look at the 2nd gear problem.
All back together, but the tranny guy could never get the parts (or so he said) and it went back in unfixed. Now I am having problems shifting from 1st to 2nd. I have to double-clutch to get it into 2nd. (Let up clutch while in neutral and then press again).
Sound like the guy finished off my synchro? Could it be the link adjustment? Any relation to the replaced clutch?
Poorer and frustrated... I think I went backwards on this deal. Any help would be appreciated.
