You may find that it will have a problem filling as the long neck and curves in the filler neck will cause it to fill really slow.
You can remove the sending unit by using an od screwdriver or punch with a hammer and tapping the inner ring counter-clockwise until it lines up the tabs with the cut outs in the flange on the tank itself. Make sure you clean as much dirt & crud from around the moveable ring area so you do not get any dirt inside the tank.
The tank you need can be had really cheap if you have the measurements,,,,
