Small block setup is the berries for sure but!...When you start to monkey with powering up the driveline, you need to also now consider changing/improving the brakes, suspension, and steering to match up to these new higher speeds heavier front end and to hang on to safety.
Like everything in life, one thing begets another thing begets another thing. Small block begets the R700 (?) TH400 (?) and those bet disc brakes and then independent front suspension and on and on it goes.
Slow lane driving is cheap!
