I cannot remember the appearance of the gasket that came in the NOS package; but, either the NOS gaskets or the Chev's of the 40's gaskets (I had a set of each) were simply a flat piece of rubber (shaped to the flat mounting edge of the bullet). One set of gasskets had a lip that sealed agaisnt the bullet.
DennisM's suggestion is a good one (I have used sheet rubber and inner tube rubber).
I do not see the gaskets listed in the Steele catalog (but I might have looked in the wrong place).
