You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
Some 1947 & 1948 trucks used those strips between the rear & center headliner bows to keep the headliner from drooping.
These strips were secured to the headliner by 2 brass button ties.
The strips are not flat but rather they have a bow in them to match the contour of the headliner.
These strips were eliminated in late 1948.
If you are installing a new headliner they really are not needed.
