Okay, I have a few questions before I attempt this...
 First: I didn't have the engine rebuilt, the PO did. Can't seem to get a hold of him, so I don't know about the cam or the lifters. I do know he mentioned that it was bored out when rebuilt, but I don't know by how much. So how critical is all this information before I start this?
 Second: I took the valve cover off last weekend when I was working on the engine, just to get familiar, but I didn't put any sealant on the gasket when I put the cover back on. Is this a bad thing and do I need to get a new gasket?
 Third: I changed the oil last weekend. I am running 10-40 in it, as that's what the PO said he used. Is this alright, or should I be using something else?
 Fourth: The plug wires are already marked, as is the distributor cap at #1. Once I turn the engine over to #1, how exactly do I set the valves and where do I measure the clearance?
 Fifth: I replaced the points last weekend, but I was told the gap on new was .019 and on worn was.016? Which is right? Also, here's a bone head question... when you gap them, I noticed the rotor can turn a little, spreading them further apart or closer together. Do you set the gap at the furthest point apart or the closest?
Let's see... I think that covers all the stupid beginner questions for now. Thanks for all the help... was about to call it quits and park it in a field somewhere... if I could get it started that is!
