I think part of the problem is the newer model parts being mated to the older model steering link. The pitman arm is off of a newer model vehicle, but I assume all the rest of the steering linkage is original non-power steering original 66 stuff. I think what you are sayin is correct, adjusting the tie rods in enough might correct the problem, but looking at them now they seem to be most of the way in. I might have to take it to an alignment shop.
