I'm back t/c Steve.Got no GOOD answers, just ones that seem to work.The hole in the thermostat will purge the air out even when the stat is closed (as in when it sits overnight).Usually you can hear air in a system at the heater core.

Must be able to cook , clean , sew , tune engines and polish trucks. Must have old Stovebolt and garage. Please send picture of old Stovebolt and garage.
