Be prepared is the motto of the Boy Scouts of America and a smart thing to be. I would always carry an old coffee can full of pea gravel and a can of kerosene when traveling in winter in the old step vans in East Texas. It would sometimes go below 0 and with all the cracks and holes the heater couldn't keep up. I would pour the kerosene in the coffee can (the gravel kept it from sloshing out) and light it up. That worked well in emergencies.
I know someone here will freak out over the toxic fumes but one must do what one must do. cool
