That is good advice, 50. 55 makes another good point. You WILL pay a penalty in fuel economy over a 10-20 year-old Toyota, even with a Dakota. But with a stovebolt six in a 1/2-ton, the penalty won't be all that great if she's kept in(or returned to)good shape. If operating cost is the big issue, the Toy wins hands-down(unless you get a dud, which is easy enough to get around with an inspection). After that, the Dakota with a small engine and a 5-speed, and I hear the S-10 is a good choice, but don't buy a high-miler. But if you can live with a little more maintenance and a little less fuel economy, You'll be able to hand a stovebolt off to your grandson! What's not the VERY coolest about that?
