To be clear the screw looks just like a philips head but instead of the crossed slot there is a square recess in the head. They are difficult to strip out, though it can be done. I am sure you can get them at a local hardware store or home depot (Lowes has a good selection of fasteners as well) in zinc plated or stainless if you are concerned about rust.
