I found that when I did the door seals on my 54 and several other project trucks, that after I installed the new seals, I had to adjust my latches down in several intervals.

It wasn't that the door seals were "defective"....I was just expecting a little too much, a little too soon. Giving them a little extra "cushion" for a week allowed the seals to conform to the body curvatures and then I could get my final adjustment and fit without any wind noise and my latches caught every time.

Backing off on the striker plate slightly and giving the seals a week, should do the trick. Hope this helps.
