Darn it! I just replaced that float, five years ago, with a sixty year old one. I may try that fuel flow regulator, but I want to go fast in a downpour. and now that I have shocks on the front it doesn't walk two feet every time I hit a bump at 60mph. As terrifying as it was, I continued to tempt fate. Keeps the blood pumping.
