Dumb me I didn't think about running two screws or bolts through the plate! the funny thing is there are two slots in the area the original plate was at giving me the idea they had tabs that fit into the door and you twisted the tab to secure them. Why did JC make them weld or bolt on?? It reminds me of the tabs that hold the Stainless Steel decorative strips on the hood. I'd prefer not to drill any holes, but it's better than the weld on idea on my paint!
Thanks for the great idea. I'm not in a hurry and hope someone can shed some light about the original unit with the tabs and where it can be bought!
