My winter project this year is to replace the stock 3 spd with a 3 spd OD that I picked up on Ebay. The other day I climbed under the truck and measured the existing tranny it is about 7 in shorter than the OD unit, so I'll have to shorten the stock open drive shaft. The existing drive shaft is a two section set-up with a spport ring holding it up. My question is if I shorten the drive shaft the angle at which the drive shaft passes through the support ring will change slightly --- will this be a problem or is there enough flexibility in the u-joint to handle it?
