I had posted a version of this in response to a earlier thread and didn't get much of a response in that thread. I hope it is because folks didn't see it rather than didn't care to respond. I would like some input and maybe a reference to a gallery picture with a truck with the original hood ornament.

For the 47-53 trucks there was a dealer option hood ornament that is kinda a teardrop shape that is low to the hood and has an art deco style. Many of the vendors sell a nice reproduction.

I know this because I recently bought a perfect hood for my '50 truck that had the holes for the period hood ornament and original paint under where it mounted. I was going to fill the original holes in, but my brother in law bought me the repro ornament for my birthday. He is a great guy and into vintage trucks as well. He was jazzed to get it for me. Not to offend anyone, but I am not sure that I like it. I guess I have owned my truck too long without it and it visually takes away from the wonderful rounded hood, IMHO. But I feel like I have to run it because it was gift (and I won't have to weld on a perfect hood.) It may look a lot different when the truck is painted as now it is surrounded by surface rust.

I know it is my truck and I can run what I want, but does anyone want to weigh in on how much they like the original hood ornament? Just trying to find out if there is a way I can come to like this thing. Thanks in advance
