The one time my 62 two ton was towed they disconnected the drive shaft. It's only a couple of nuts so easy insurance.
P.S. Reading your post again, I would not want to be driving in front of you when you are trying to stop that towed TWO TON rig from 55 mph with only the brakes of your 1/2 ton Silverado.
