As far as your window frames go, I think I'd put some type of tape over the painted frames before I installed them. I've got a roll of 1" black masking tape of some sort that would be perfect for what you're doing. It's not overly sticky, more like a strong "sticky note", so it adheres well to whatever I'm putting it on but it also comes off very easily and cleanly. I've never had it pull paint off of anything. Unfortunately, I have no idea where I got it, but I'd try Home Depot or Lowe's. It looks just like masking tape, only black. Less sticky even than regular masking tape.
