Ok this is the thing. Patricks rear end kit will work on a 54 truck he says but you have to:
use the 40-53 differential spool casting
#3652336. Otherwise, the installation is exactly the same. That change was done only in 54, so in order to make it work, you need the early differential.
So, on my luckiest day I find an earlier differential with the Patricks pinion change already installed but need to have it shipped over here. Am I right to think that all I need to do is swap in that third member for my own to make it work? What about hooking up to my existing torque tube and axles?
