Well, Forty-Nine, if one is going to all that trouble, who needs a 3.08 in a truck? Who needs a non-posi rear axle? Who needs a unit with a 7.5 inch ring gear? The original stock rear end would serve one better. If an upgrade is wanted, there are 12-bolt Chevys and 9-inch Fords out there, all of which have 9-inch or 8.78 inch ring gears, which represent toughness and carrying capacity. Evem Chevy 10-bolts and Ford 8.8's would serve better than a 7.5 incher. 10-bolt stuff is also cheap. I could get a posi for one for 1/2 the cost of a 12-bolt.
