Welcome! My '48 looked a lot like yours when I started, and 17 years later (I took a LONG time off in the middle) I'm at the reconstruction stage.
My advice is to take a ton of pictures, and label carefully everything you remove. We didn't have digital cameras when I started, but if we did, I would have filled several CD's with pictures.
The people on this site are very willing to help, and don't be afraid to ask even those questions you think are dumb. They're not.
