Just line the needle up with the ball on the flywheel (use the peep hole above the starter). Make sure the 235 is at idle. You shouldn't have any vacuum advance at idle with the correct carb. You don't need to worry about plugging any lines. If you live somewhere where it is on the cool side and you can get high octane gas you can advance the timing a little to get more power but back it off if it pings.
