I couldn't find the post about home made traction bars, but I may have seen it in a classic trucks magazine. They are essentially a copy of the standard series on this link:
http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/tractionbars.htm If you paint them black they will be barely noticeable and still look kind of old. I think these are the ones chevman32 is talking about. Besides axle wrap you are gonna need some way to get that much power to the ground with the light rear end in that pickup.
Are you boxing the frame? Good luck with your second gear synchros in that T5, hope you had the parts upgraded.
