I'd check the gallery and look at the difference between the 60-61 hoods and the 62-66 hoods. Pretty huge difference if you ask me. The later hoods do have "nostrils" hidden down where the hood meets the radiator support, but the earlier ones have jet intakes on top. Much bigger than 2x12. Hope this helps.
