One thing I would suggest is that if you are going with the Pertronix make sure you have the truck running with points first then switch over to the pertronix.
I had a problem geting my newly rebuilt engine started for the first time with the pertronix and the tech guy at pertronix told me to get it started and set the timing with the standard points then switch to the pertronix and reset the timing.
