Cliff, from my firsthand experience with USAA, run like hell from them!!! They jacked me around after the '03 tornado with both my '96 Cummins and my '70 Ford F-250 (sweet truck, it was!!!), that I had to take them to the Oklahoma state insurance commissioner through arbitration to get them to pay anything on the Ford. It was appraised by TWO independent classic car appraisers at $8,200 from one and $8,550 from the other. They wanted to give me $2,120 for the truck, despite reams of documentation of receipts, history, and work, pictures before and after, blah blah blah. The documentation didn't mean squat to them. They claimed they could replace the truck for $2K, to which I replied "prove it", which they couldn't, of course. They ended up giving me just $4,000 and I kept the remains of the Ford. They were a bonafide PITA that could care less about the paying what the truck was insured at. I had my other classics (four) insured through Haggerty, with two being totalled and two being repairable and had zero problems with them, on the other hand.

Mainstream insurance companies claim to say they'll insure a classic for a driver, but don't believe it for a second that they'll pay you what your appraised value of the truck is, even if your policy states that. I'm sure there's an adjuster or two on this forum that'll tell you I don't know what I'm talking about or that I'm the exception to the rule here. Don't believe that for a minute!!!

After I cancelled USAA once the payouts for both trucks were finished, they had the audacity to send me a letter saying they "missed my business and please come back", to which I replied with a two-word response, letting them pay the postage, to boot!

Screw USAA.
