But since 7" pulleys are more expensive than 4" pulleys, I've got to think that GM put the 7 inchers on for good reason.
Fred T, The top of my radiator frame has already been cut (which helped in pulling the engine/tranny). That's a real option.
The $73 for the short-shaft pump plus the $20 core charge which I'll probably have to eat (no 261 pump to return) plus more fussing with a pulley just has me thinking of other solutions.
Thanks, everyone!! 1948 3/4-Ton 5-Window Flatbed Chevrolet 34 Years. Now with a '61 261, 848 head, Rochester Monojet carb, SM420 4-speed, 4.10 rear, dual reservoir MC, Bendix up front, 235/85R16 tires, 12-volt w/alternator, electric wipers and a modern radio in the glove box.
